Stop the onslaught of annoying robocalls

Consumer Action signed on to support public testimony to the U.S. House of Representative's Subcommittee On Communications and Technology regarding potential legislative solutions to the rampant problem of illegal scam and spoofed robocalls.

Consumer Action signed on to support the public comments made by Margot Saunders of the National Consumer Law Center regarding the massive epidemic of illegal robocalls. In the testimony it was noted that major American corporations initiate a majority of robocalls. Coalition organizations warned about the prospect that the Federal Communications Commission would “loosen restrictions on robocalls” so that no autodialing equipment would be covered by the restrictions of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Coalition organizations publically supported Chairman Frank Pallone’s (D-NJ) “Stopping Bad Robocalls Act” (H.R. 946), which contains a broad definition of equipment that would be linked to robocalls.
